Owen at Two Months Old

Here is a recap of the second month of Owens life: (better late than never...)

-Weighing in at 12 pounds
-Likes to stand on our lap, shaking his little arms until he sits back down.
-Is getting really good at holding his head up
-Smiles really big, and we can tell he recognizes us, which we love!
-Trying to learn how to laugh, but hasn't quite gotten it down yet
-Slept 6 hours straight once! But only once... Mostly it's 3.5-5 hours at a time at night.
-Doesn't mind Sidney kisses anymore
-Sidney loves Owen... a little too much
-Doesn't make near as many reflex faces
-Smiles at me when I pick him up after crying to eat in the middle of the night.  Those are some of the biggest smiles I've seen!
-Doesn't like tummy time, and hasn't rolled over since the first time
-Doesn't like it when I eat dairy, acidic foods, & greasy foods.  I like having an excuse to have to eat very healthy.  It's making both of us feel much better!
-When's he's grumpy, he likes going outside and walking around
-The changing table is his favorite place in the house, and he never fusses when I'm changing his diaper
-Still loves the ceiling fan

Morning Walk

Rolling Over

Owen rolled over for the first time today!  After doing so, he starting fussing.  He didn't enjoy it one bit.

Visit to the Auditor General's Office

Last Wednesday we went to go visit everyone at my old job.  They all loved Owen!  We took a picture showing how popular he is on the announcement bulletin board. 2 fliers, and 3 pictures :) 

It was fun to see all my friends after being gone for over a month.  July 1 was 3 years since I started working for them.  We will visit them again, especially at the Halloween Party!

One Month Old!

Sunday, August 7th

OWEN:
Is the cutest little person :)

Loves the fan
Can hold his head up
Lost all his hair on the top of his head
Slept 5 hours at night 4 times, 4 hours several times
Makes lots of grumpy, grunting noises (more than he cries)
Doesn't like Sidney kisses
Falls asleep really fast to the sound of the vacuum
Loves car rides and walks
Makes lots and lots of different faces
Is a really good eater
Outgrew Gerber brand newborn onesies.

Smiles big (not on command yet) and when he does, it looks like daddy's baby pictures

Owen really is such a good baby!  We could not ask for a sweeter, easier child.  Let's hope it stays that way when he's two.. and 16 :).  He is growing up way too fast already.  I can't believe how fast the month has gone!

P.S. I think the car seat is shrinking just a bit...

Saturday, July 23rd

First Bath

Back to the Pediatrician

Leaving to go back to the pediatrician for another Jaundice test.

This time we were told his levels were low, and that we should just make sure he didn't look more like a pumpkin ever.  We continued window time for the next few days, and Owen started to look less orange.

Jaundice

Monday, July 11th we went to the pediatrician for the first time, and were told Owen had Jaundice.  The un-fun part was that the pediatrician said it was too late in the day for them to do anything after the labs got back, so if the levels were too high we would have to go to the emergency room that night.  We came home and put Owen straight into the window.  Later that evening we got a call saying the levels were low enough to not worry about it that night, but to go back into the office the next day.

He gave me many faces.

He's Home

July 8th at about 2pm we made it home! Owen fed, then I took a nap. 

A much needed nap, as I got horrible sleep in the hospital bed.  I was woken up as soon as I felt like I was finally getting comfortable at 7am by Dr. Beck.  We were happy to be home!

Welcome Owen!

Thursday, July 7 at 10:58am Owen Samuel Western was born!  7 lbs, 15 oz 21.5 inches long, and absolutely perfect!

Another Max Quote

Max was painting a picture, and told me the following: "When Owen is born he's going to say, 'Cool Max, did you draw that?' and I'm going to say 'Yeah'..." (like it's no big deal)

Goofy Looking Baby

The 3D Ultrasound wasn't as amazing as I had hoped.  Owen had his face in my back, and Dr. Beck was trying to get a shot of him looking in from the side near my hip.  We got to watch him chew on the back of his hand (pictured below) but we couldn't see his face long enough to get a clear picture.  We only got a couple blurry blob ones :).  I totally think that's Sam's same cheek bone though.

Totally goofy pictures, but that's okay.  I'm sure he'll look normal in real life.  I can't wait to meet our little baby Owen!  5 weeks and 2 days until my "due date"!!

Growing

Owen continues to grow, which makes me grow in the process.  Maternity pictures taken at 32 weeks.

We totally love him.  I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
